Some operations are too specific for off-the-shelf solutions. ETA designs and builds SPMs for precision ball turning, shaft straightening, commutator slotting, duplex milling and other operations central to engine valve and rotating component manufacturing.
Machines in this range
All SPMs are engineered-to-order — designed around your specific component, tolerance requirement and production rate. No adapting your part to our machine.
Each machine below is a proven design that ETA has delivered to engine valve and component manufacturers. All are customisable for your specific part geometry and production requirement.
Dedicated machine for producing the precise spherical ball form on the stem end of engine valves. Turning and burnishing in a single set-up ensures geometric accuracy and surface finish that meet tight OEM tolerances.
Precision straightening of valve stems and other long slender shafts that develop runout during heat treatment or forging. Closed-loop measurement and servo-controlled press ensure straightness within specification on every cycle.
High-speed slotting machine for cutting insulation slots in commutators used in DC motors and generators. Designed for consistent slot depth, width and pitch across all segments — critical for motor performance and longevity.
Simultaneous two-face milling of component ends in a single pass. Significantly reduces cycle time versus sequential milling. Suitable for engine valve tips, shaft ends and any component requiring parallel face machining to tight length tolerances.
Integrated SPM line combining multiple dedicated operations — chamfering, tip grinding, groove turning, stem polishing — into a sequenced production flow. Designed alongside ETA's upsetting and RFW machines for complete valve manufacturing cells.
Don't see what you need? ETA has built machines for operations with no commercial precedent. Bring us your component drawing, your current process challenge and your production volume — we will design the machine from the ground up.
Every special purpose machine starts with a conversation — not a catalogue. Here is how we get from your component to a running machine.
We study your component drawing, current operation, tolerances, cycle time target and production volume. We ask the questions most machine suppliers skip.
Our engineers propose a machine concept — tooling arrangement, fixture design, motion sequence, automation level — and review it with you before any metal is cut.
The machine is built and run at our Peenya facility using your actual components. You witness the trial and accept only when the machine meets your specification.
ETA commissions the machine at your site, trains your operators, and stays available for the machine's full service life — spare parts, AMC, remote support.
